WING WALKERS

Casey Steffens first heard about wing walking through an interview with Rosamund Pike. A mention of a flight suit sent her researching, and eventually to the Cotswolds to the AeroSuperBatics team, one of the last groups in the world still practicing the sport.

Over severals trips to the UK to document the group, the project that emerged spans the full life of the team from airshow performances, hanger rehearsals, pre-show rituals, the quiet moments between the spectacle. It is as much a portrait of a community as it is a record of the sport itself.

What drew Steffens wasn't just the spectacle of standing atop biplanes in flight - it was the humanity she found on the ground. Two women in flame suits braiding each other's hair before a show. The weight of a harness. Showing the people inside the world alongside the world itself.

Wing Walkers sits at the center of everything Steffens does: finding a place most poeple would never think to look, earning her way inside it, and staying long enough to bring back something true.
